Fairvue Farms - Woodstock, CT
In the past 40-plus years, the Millers have expanded their herd from 40 to 900 Holstein milking cows, and their cropland has grown to more than 1,800 acres. In order to grow enough feed for their cows, the Miller’s also rent cropland from landowners in several adjacent towns who are willing to let them grow corn and hay on their property.
Neighbors often stop by Fairvue Farm to pick up The Farmer’s Cow’s fresh products, which the Millers sell from the self-service shop set up in the entryway of their farmhouse. The families of the three-generational Miller farm are active in local agricultural committees, as well as statewide organizations. Their participation in the state’s Celebrating Agriculture event allows hundreds of visitors to tour their barns each year.
