August 11, 2015 (Lebanon, CT) – The 2015 Corn Maze Adventure at Fort Hill Farms celebrates the dark skies of The Last Green Valley with a celestial theme. Located at 260 Quaddick Road in Thompson, Fort Hill Farms is a working farm that has been in continuous agricultural production for more than 300 years. Raised platforms in the Corn Maze offer magnificent views of the hilltop fields that overlook three states – Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
This year’s Corn Maze Adventure is a fun experience for families and kids of all ages. Learn about our galaxy and the traditions of farming by the stars as you solve the Maze by searching for clues. Decode the Secret Phrase by finding all the picture rubbings and you just might forget you’re lost! Every Friday and Saturday night, visitors will be able to experience the maze by moonlight during ‘Flashlight Nights’. Observe the Milky Way from the Corn Maze and search for constellations as well as clues. Upcoming celestial highlights according to The Farmer’s Almanac include the Harvest Full Moon on September 27th and a total Lunar Eclipse on September 28th.
On August 29th the Orr family and The Farmer’s Cow will celebrate the Grand Opening of “The Best in the Milky Way” Corn Maze. From 10am to 4pm, visitors are invited to enjoy free admission to the ‘Little Dipper Labyrinth’ and complimentary small cones of The Farmer’s Cow new ice cream flavor ‘The Milky Way Galaxy.’
Inspired by the dark skies of The Last Green Valley, the newest ice cream flavor from The Farmer’s Cow features a cosmic peanut butter swirl studded with peanut butter cup planets and white chocolate chip stars in a celestial sea of dark chocolate ice cream. The ‘Little Dipper Labyrinth’ is a winding path designed for people of all ages and strollers.
“We like to say our milk is the best in the galaxy,” said Robin Chesmer, managing member of The Farmer’s Cow. “Because of minimal light pollution, our fields at night are perfect for star gazing and observing the Milky Way.”
