Come see where fresh local milk comes from with a farm tour at Mapleleaf Farm in Hebron!
An iconic New England farmstead, Mapleleaf has been in continuous operation since the early 1900s. See the expectant mothers in the calving field, tour the milking barns, visit the calves in their greenhouse, touch a tractor, and enjoy sampling The Farmer’s Cow products including milk, ice cream, and summer beverages.
The Farmer’s Cow Farm Tours are educational and fun for all ages. Host Ned Ellis is a fourth-generation farmer who is proud to show everyone around the farm. The Ellis’ have been good stewards of their land and resources. Solar panels installed through the Connecticut Farm Energy Program generate approximately 40% of the electricity needed to operate the farm. They also have protected 450 acres from development, ensuring farming will continue there for generations to come.

Celebrate National Ice Cream Day with The Farmer’s Cow!
The Orr family is proud to host the annual “Blueberry, Ice Cream & Bluegrass Bash” at Fort Hill Farms in Thompson. A family fun, free event, it is a toe-tapping, foot-stomping celebration!
Enjoy complimentary “Itty Bitty” cones of The Farmer’s Cow fresh Connecticut ice cream while listening to Blackstone Valley Bluegrass perform live music with powerful three and four part harmonies. Visitors are also invited to tour the award-winning Quintessential Gardens, enjoy a wagon ride around the fields, and meet the calves that will grow up to join the herd as the next generation of The Farmer’s Cow milking cows. The Last Green Valley Rangers will be here too for folks to learn about the history and future of our region.
Celebrate the corn harvest with The Farmer’s Cow at the Cushman Farms Annual Corn Roast. It’s REAL Local fun in the fields of Franklin. Fresh picked local sweet corn will be slow roasted in the husk over a charcoal fire. “Shake & Make” your own butter from The Farmer’s Cow heavy cream. Enjoy tractor rides around the fields, tour the milking facility, and see the rotary ‘merry-go-round’ that milks 30 cows at a time. The Last Green Valley Rangers will be here too for folks to learn about the history and future of our region.

Enjoy the new flavor of The Last Green Valley’s Annual Fundraiser – a seated 5-course gourmet dinner. Locally grown products will be cooked up into unique tastes by top chefs, all from our National Heritage Corridor. Dine with our guest agri-superstars & TLGV notables, as they move from table to table with each course. The auction items, raffle baskets & pledge forms will be present, too, but look for a whole new course of fun & fundraising opportunities.
